Does anyone know where I can buy a reverse chucking adapter, in a 1 1/4" x 8 TPI, that has a bearing in it. I've seen "live" ones but they were all 1" x 8 TPI. CS sells one that is 1 1/4" x 8 TPI but it does not spin. Thanks.

Thanks to all the help. I think Bill's suggestion to look at the Oneway adapters seems to be the best solution as they have all different sizes and when they screw onto my current Oneway live center the whole connection is now live as well. Thanks again!!

is the adapter used with a faceplate????????

The Oneway tailstock adapter is used with anything needs to rotate on the bed axis. I usually use it with a chuck, but faceplates would work fine as well (I just don’t use faceplates that often). My primary use with it is to align a turning with it’s chucking alignment when it’s turned 180. Sometimes I don’t want to take a workpiece off of the chuck yet but need to work on another part of it that’s better accessed if I reverse it. I also use it as an alignment fixture when I change over to vacuum chucking.

If you don’t want the piece spinning on the tailstock, the locking bar can be used to stop that — just don’t put a lot of rotational force against it or you’ll bend the bar and maybe damage the tailstock innards.

Is Bestwoodtools.com the only source for this? Was hoping to find it on Craft Supplies site or maybe even Amazon, but no luck. I have a reversing adapter that is fixed. I think being able to mount such a device on a live center would be a big advantage. Just trying to find other sources.

As mentioned above, Oneway offers several different size adapters that screw onto their live center and the Robust live center. I have the 1X8 and the 1¼8 adapters. You can order directly from Oneway or Craft Supplies (maybe not all sizes at CS) and possibly other places as well.

Perhaps it is a special order item with Craft Supplies as I have not been able to find it (in any size) on their website.

Try this: Revolving Center Chuck Adapter

I see that Craft Supplies has three different sizes at $42.95 each. If you need a different size then go to the Oneway site and order directly from them.

Perfect. Thanks. I couldn't find it on the CS website regardless of how hard I looked. I'll be using it on a Robust live center (it's my understanding from this thread that it is indeed compatible with the Robust). Perhaps I saw it earlier and dismissed it as I was expecting something machined out of aluminum. I am caught off guard by the image.

The Robust live center has ¾X16 threads just like the Oneway live center. From first hand experience, I can assure you that they work perfectly on the Robust. I prefer using the Robust live center because it doesn't droop like the Oneway does when a heavy weight is hung on it.

Here is a hint when you are not sure what search terms to use on the CS web site -- just enter the name of the manfacturer. I wasn't sure exactly what that thing is called, so I just searched for Oneway. The part showed up on the second page of results. That is quicker than making a bunch of guesses and I probably never would have found it that way.

BTW, if you go to the Oneway web site to search for something, be prepared to spend considerable time hunting. Their category names are so confusing that I had to hunt for five minutes just to locate the adapters. On the Craft Supplies site it took about 19 seconds.

Bill, the funny thing is that I probably looked right at that thing multiple times. Searching for 'Oneway' was indeed one of the ways I conducted the search. I am certain that I didn't give the thing a second glance as it does not look like what I had in my head it would look like. I was expecting something silver in color - something that would be more esthetically compatible with the Oneway live center. Obviously a bad assumption.
