Maybe call customer service again and ask what surge protector they recommend..

I totally just pulled the first one I found in Amazon so more due diligence would be the thing to do but as a for instance. At 220v and 15 amps, you're at 3300 watts so something like this would work IF it plays nice with the vfd.

Geez... the size of that link, apologies.

When I copy a link from Amazon, I copy only the text before the “/ref=”. Anything after is unneeded, perhaps related to the search algorithms that led to that page. For example, for your long link I would only copy and paste this (without the quotes):

https://www.amazon.com/BSEED-Appliance-Protector-Voltage-Brownout/dp/B07R3GK6DM”

This is especially handy for sending someone a link by email.

The forum software, in this case shortens the whole thing to a the simple and vague link name “Amazon.com”, at least for me:

If this is too brief, you can always provide some descriptive text from the page, something such as, in this case, “BSEED surge protector”

I didn't read all the posts to see if you figured it out, but the example line was pasted inside of quotation marks so it did not make a valid link. It was intended as an example of how to extract a link from a long bunch of characters copied from an Amazon search that contained the link.

That line, copied from the address on the Amazon page as described will take you directly to the page. (as illustrated a later in the message). It won't work otherwise. (The line won't even work if you just copy the text from the message and leave off the quotations marks) This is sometimes confusing, but after doing it a few (dozen) times it becomes automatic. I've used this method for years. (Although I always test it after posting and fix it if I accidentally messed up a character. I hate links that don't work!)

BTW, you can copy and paste the text of the entire line into the address field of a browser, delete the enclosing quotation marks, then press enter. That works.

I have the same lathe and had a similar problem. I purchased an Amazon Basics surge protector and haven’t had a problem since. Unfortunately the one I bought is no longer available but I’ve attached a photo. Something similar should work fine.IMG_0096.jpeg

FWIW, you can delete everything after and including "ref".

Edit: Bah, should have read one more post. JKJ covered it.

The unit linked in this post is the one I got for Christmas for my 3520c and it works well, doesn't interfere with the vfd. We had a power blink the other day and it shut power off to lathe and I unplugged the lathe right away. It was windy that day.
