Ripple with skew

I've resorted to sandpaper too, not so much to get the surface smooth but to get the darned thing perfectly cylindrical! Also, sanding sticks.

My Lovely Bride does NOT like rolling pins with handles - said she gets more control by rolling with both hands on the ends of the top side. She doesn't like the "french" style either. Said she with the cylinder she could "feel" to a consistent thichness.

So I made a new one without handles to her precise specs from Olive (we have a kitchen olivewood theme going):

I threw away the old one with handles so it couldn't be used on me when I misbehave...

Mine agrees with yours. Made her a 20" long by 1.3" diameter (to fit her hand grip) rolling pin that same way (out of a cherry billet) she loves it and that relegated all her old (heirloom) handled rolling pins to the "out of sight out of mind" drawer at the very bottom of kitchen cabinets.

Our resident chef specified a 2" diameter rolling pin about 14" long. She said she's seen smaller diameter and longer pins online but when I mentioned I could make something different she warned be sternly "Just don't dare touch this one. I like it exactly how it is." She da boss. And the best cook in the SE!

This girl travels to Italy for cooking classes. And we have to suffer through all those amazing dishes. And desserts. The other day it was banana/carrot cupcakes. Tonight it's fig bread and fig bars, probably with some kind of nuts. Our largest fig tree is producing like crazy this year, 100s of figs, picked a gallon or two so far. Every day there are more. Got a gallon+ of blueberries too this year, but those have about quit - leaving the rest for the birds. The asian and european pears are about ready to pick. Life is so hard.
