I started turning a little over a year ago when my dad gave me his secondhand lathe. I got into it more as a way to share time with my dad as we go to our local turner's club together.

What a nice dad! You're going to have SO much fun.

As for escaping numbers, I loved math, calculus, matrix algebra, almost anything EXCEPT accounting.
Well, even keeping my checkbook straight was almost too much.

And that was over a half century ago. Today I do well to count change correctly.
