I have been buying the very scrapers you are talking about. Simons insurance company forbids him from shipping to the US & Canada. I have the two massive scrapers you are making reference to. I also just bought replacement cutters for each. Simon Hope just introduced (2) new scrapers just like the large ones you have seen but are 1//2 the size. Simon is a good man and one of his best pals owns a retail woodturning store. I have built a healthy relationship with the owner. I need to check with him before I drop his name. Two things you need to know. First with the new tariffs they are VERY expensive. Two, they are super weird to sharpen. You can watch YouTube videos on how to sharpen them. As far as how do these two scrapers perform? They are off the charts. They are the heavest tools I use. When properly sharpened they cut like butter. Please note! These are BIG scrapers and not for small works. But on larger bowls they are second to none. I am going to buy the new smaller scrapers. I buy both the scrapers and one quick release Handel. If you want to know the totally trick set up buy the large flat tool rest from Simple Hollowing Systems. ACES! I will contact my guy and see what he wants to do. It took a long time for me to establish myself as a guy that would not question pricing or present a problem ever. To end… Simon Hope is a super nice guy. I get along well with him. I can suggest this. Fly to London or Germany and buy your tools. Think I am nuts? I was ready to do just that. I will check this out and see what is what. Maybe if you told your Canadian sales guy how many of these Hope tools you all wanted maybe he could import them. They were pretty reasonable. Then our New GOD, ooops excuse me… the new president got involved in Woodturning tools and the price went into the Stratosphere. I shall return! Give me some time. I am a busted up wheelchair dude that moves at the speed of a turtle. Thank You! Thom Schuck, Portland, Oregon
