There has been some recent interest in this subject and I would like to refer those interested to my early postings on the subject in the T and T Forum. A search on the word "Spheroid" under my name D J Gooding should retrieve them.

No not obvious. Suppose you have terrible chest pain, you are about to pass out. So you go to see a doctor, he says" I'm about to go play golf, but I'm sure what you have is somewhere in my library" as he points to his wall of books. Would you take the time to search his books, or go find another doctor who is going to help you? Yes I can do a search, but there are several things that come up, and not necessarily what you are talking about.

Brian, you would think so, but I tried unsuccessfully several times before succeeding. Part of the problem may have been that I was trying to define a range of dates to search.
Uh huh.. so perhaps you might want to dig out your own post and do as suggested above, posting a link to it?

I assume your aim is to sort of boost that original post back to the forefront as it may be more relevant this time of year? Best Ive learned for sphere turning is that 1/3rds rule once you find centers (on both x and y axis) and your blank should be pretty much exactly squared... or something like that - the video I learned it from explained it far better, but I think that's about the gist of it....
