I had a call from a friend of mine in Tennessee that wants to duplicate an antique table in butternut, wanted to know if I had a duplicator on my lathe to make the legs. I know an experienced turner can duplicate a pattern pretty good without a duplicator but I dont have that kind of experience. Anybody near his place that can help him out?

For a small quantity of spindle/table legs it would be easier to take measurements from one of the originals and draw a story board to go off of. Use a piece of pine lumber to practice on the first piece to get the process and the correct tools to complete the practice piece and then move onto the butternut table legs. The first piece takes the longest to turn and each one gets easier and better as you progress. Table legs are a distance apart from each other so you really never see (2) pieces side by side after they are installed.

Well I just moved and I'm now about 45 miles yes from there. I live in Cookeville tn now. Unfortunately I am having to build a shop before I will have my lathe. If he can wait until about May I can do it.
