In Memoriam
As we continue down this path of isolation and shutdowns, how many of you are finding refuge in your shops? I hope the majority of you have access to your shop and have been creating new projects to keep your mind sharp and stay engaged. As an example, I started a 'production' project about two weeks ago to produce 14 commemorative bowls for a reunion next year. I hadn't planned on doing this until next Spring, but it became clear I needed some lathe therapy. The project involved use of some new toys (CNC engraver and laser burner) and some segmented work. I typically shun repetitive work because I like to do different things each time I use the lathe. Having just completed my run of 14 bowls (check out the image I posted), I'm very glad I had this daily task over the past few weeks to exercise my brain and turning skills. I even found that the problem solving thinking sessions in my waking hours were useful and appreciated. I'm sure some of you are finding similar therapy at your lathe. How about sharing some of your stories and how it has been a benefit to yourself and probably to your other household members
