Hello everyone. My name Steve Bouton. I live in Hampstead, North Carolina, and I'm a novice woodturner. I first touched a lathe in October 2024. I joined my local chapter, Wilmington Area Woodturners Association, a.k.a., WAWA, at that time. Soon afterward, I joined the AAW. I'm having a lot of fun learning my new hobby.

My background is in Information Technology (I.T), 55 years. I'm a husband, father, grandfather, and a great-grandfather.

Welcome, Steve. If you haven't already found www.turnawoodbowl.com, you should check it out. He has a lot of YouTube videos as well as articles and videos on his site. He also sells some courses for $80-100 that might be of value to you. But no worries, most of what is in those courses can be found on his site, albeit with a little hunting and pecking.

Hello Kent. I discovered TurnAWoodBowl and bought and took his his sharpening course. I've watched at least 75 of his videos and they are excellent.

Is it a coincidence your name is Kent, or are you the Kent of TurnAWoodBowl?

Thanks again.

Steve
The Turnawoodbowl kent is Kent Weakley , lives in Northern Florida, if I'm not mistaken. Not sure if he is a member here, but I have watched many of his videos and I agree he's great for beginners to watch, especially when it comes to sharpening (which I still struggled with a little until I got a Thompson gouge and read his instructions and then things clicked for me.)

And BTW, Welcome to the forums, we look forward to seeing your work as you make your journey into Woodturning!

Hi Brian, thanks for your reply. The AAW forums appear to be a great asset to its members. I am glad to be a part of it. I'll put something up and if I make something I am proud of.
