I've got an Apprentice Collet Chuck from Craft Supplies and I put in a piece but when I tightened up the ring I found the piece was too small in diameter and it wouldn't sieze but when I took it off the collet is stuck in the ring. I'm not familiar with using this tool, this was the first time, but I'm puzzled at what happened. What could I have done? I tightened the ring, not overly so, when it didn't hold the piece I didn't force it. Could anyone give me a hint on what I may have done and now what do I do? Appreciate any input. Thanks, Bob

Not familiar with that exact system, but many have the ability to have the collet pop into a groove in the nut. This is designed to pull the collet off the taper and release the part. Take the collet and nut all the way out of the body. Put a little side load on the collet, and it should pop out of the nut. The next collet should be snapped in the nut before using it. If you don't pop it in the collet, it won't have the full tightening capability. Probably should read the instructions on this one!
