Swedish blacksmith forges a woodturning gouge, video

And there is some woodturning, too. From a small block of coal forged and hand-worked tool steel to a finished tool. His work, to my eye, looks great. And to my eye, the gouge looks like the lovechild between a "continental" gouge and a roughing gouge. And it seems to have a pretty radical bevel at the edge, too. But, I think I'd like one of his gouges in my fleet, maybe I'll check to see if he sells them. In another life, I would have been a black smith! I do follow Alex Steele on You Tube, and it seems to be possible to forge HSS and M42, which would be my preference.

SR1885 / SS2092 / AISI L1 seems to be a low alloy steel, similar to (same?) O1 tool steel. If so, his gouge would make for a very sharp edge (a very good general purpose knife steel), but not very durable for the woodturner, compared to what we commonly have available to us today. It would work very well on green wood, though. It's still a fun video to watch. One source of alloy info-
