I've got several Technatool jaw sets and recently was looking at one of them that is supposedly a 75mm Bowl Jaw - it has never been used. My question is related to the recess diameter. The booklets that come with all the Technatool jaws show that the 75mm set has an optimum recess diameter of 45mm. I put the four jaw pieces on my workbench in the "perfect circle" configuration and measured the diameter - it is 83mm, so obviously cutting a 45mm recess isn't gonna work with these jaws.

So, I put all my other jaw sets (130mm, 100mm, 50mm, 35mm) on the bench and measured them. No problems with them - they were within 2-3mm of what the booklet says a recess ought to be.

What the heck is going on with that 75mm set? The picture in the booklet looks exactly like what I have on the bench, but the measurement is whacky. Is the book wrong, or do I have some other jaw set?

The book is wrong. If you refer back to the 35mm jaws a couple pages back in the book you can see they copied and pasted the info and updated the imperial measurements but not the metric.

There's a chart on page 6 of the manual that shows the correct measurements assuming you have the chuck accessory jaw manual.

Thanks Russell - that explains it. Thought maybe I had some bogus jaw set that wasn't in the book. Would have been nice if the makers had engraved the model number on the jaws! And if they'd correct the manual... :)

Also, pages 6-7 are missing the 35mm Bowl Jaw info. Quality is job zero.
