We are planning on attending the symposium in January 2018 in Franklin. Is there anybody that can recommend a good hotel in that town?

Thanks

I have always enjoyed the Mariott when I have stayed there. The last couple of years we stayed at a cheap motel up on Hwy 96 which is just a few miles away and a lot less expensive. I will be at the Mariott this year. Look me up. I will be staying in Mike Hunter's booth a lot when not running cameras for other demonstrators. A bunch of us also get together at the BBcutie restaurant on hwy 96 for dinner. It's a lot of fun and your welcome along.

Tom, the Marriott Hotel is the host hotel for the 2018 TAW 30th Annual Woodturning Symposium and is a good place to stay with free parking. The link to the discounted reservations is http://events.r20.constantcontact.com/register/event?oeidk=a07eecl36je33d80818&llr=lgmecmkab. Recommend that you reserve your room early as the Marriott discounted block will sell out soon. There are several events going on in the Nashville area that weekend and hotels south of the city are starting to fill up. Hope to see you at the TAW Woodturning Symposium!

Thanks guys. I just booked with a local Air B&B place as we have a dog making the trip with us. I look forward to meeting all of you there.

Tom

Would love to go but the overall cost is prohibitive and too far to drive for one day. I did attend the Georgia symposium recently as it was about 30 miles from home.

John Your only 2 1/2 - 3 hour away. Heck it's 2 hours from my house because I have to drive at least 1/2 hour just to get to civilization.

Tom....would advise you fly in.....I attended one year.....really enjoyed it.....I'm just from over in Virginia....to drive its over Mtns......it was clear at airport in gsboro nc and clear at airport in Nashville......in between road closed over Mtns.....I believe it was interstate......took shuttle from airport to motel......group from Chattanooga took me under their wing for din din & such......it's an excellent symposium.....enjoy.....be sure to participate in the gallery

Thanks Charlie, driving with the dog is our only way. Hopefully there won't be a weather issue.
What do you mean by "participate in the gallery"?

each Woodturners may bring up to four of their turnings (most symposium only 3) to display in "instant gallery" for the duration of symposium......participation the key....everybody is at their own level of the learning curve.....it's just show and tell and not mandatory but you learn by participating.....no pressure....as usual they have strong demonstrators.....actually 4 legends....at lunch and between rotations you will have time to visit instant gallery
