Here is a platter I turned from a very spalted log that I found when hunting. Was one of those projects that safety definitely was a thought! A face shield is an absolute must!
Comments, and helpful criticism welcome.
I didn't get the finish I quite wanted on the top tier. It was very soft. Should have probably stabilized it first but wanted to try turning it the way it was.
Cheers
Sheldon

Will need to be stabilized if you hope to improve it. If you think it's worth it, I'd vacuum stabilize with cactus juice and cure it. Turn it to ready to sand. Then maybe a coat of total boat stabilizer before sanding if it's still not hard.

I'll probably do that with the next piece. This was more an experiment for an instructables.com contest. Wasn't accepted into the contest cause supposedly repurposed old firewood isn't a reclaimed material????
It did make it into the featured list though on the website !
