I usually give the lathe a good cleaning a couple times a year but got behind this year. Tried a lot of different cleaners to cut through the dried sap and green wood stain and nothing seems to work great.
So I tested a little Easy Off Oven and Grill Cleaner on a section and it worked excellent. I saw where it could harm paint so that’s why I tested it first a couple days ago, I’ll let you know if there’s any issues but no problem with the test area. Just sprayed it on and it loosens everything up and wipe it off just a few seconds after. I just sprayed the rag when cleaning around the electrical parts and final wipe down is done with a foaming glass cleaner in case any residue is left from the oven cleaner.
Feel like I have a new lathe now, maybe it will help me turn better! And, I liked it so much I brought the tractor in and changed the oil and rotated the tires😁!!

sounds a bit like have hot shower after a long day . :) But I agree the lathe looks outstanding, I wont show mine....

Awesome.

This is pretty well know, but just in case... citrus juice cuts through walnut staining in a hurry. I've only used it on my hands, but it works great.
