I have a 11 inch ash platter. Could lime or use other fillers or just finish with something like Minwax antique oil. Suggestions welcomed!

I think it is a personal choice. I have seen some ash with dark stain and liming wax and they looked great. I have used black shoe polish and Formby Tung oil and it gives a nice finish. If you decide to use any wax to high light the grain be sure that the sanding job is well done as any tool mark or blemish will be highlighted. Not that any of us ever have any tool marks show up on the final sanding:p
