Does the length of the post vary depending on the lathe?
I ordered a 6" round tool rest from someone in our club that
was making them. When I got it, the rest was 6", but so was the post.
I did not state a size except the 6" and a 1" dia. post.
Anyway, do they vary from different lathes?
Thanks, Grandy

The post length does vary. The bigger lathes usually take a 5-6" long post, the smaller lathes take a 3-4" long post. It is easy to shorten a post that is too long with a hacksaw. But a post that is too short is a real problem.
