Trend Airshield question

I have the original Trend Airshield, not the Pro. My cloth/foam gasket thing that seals around your face could use a good cleaning. Do any of you have any tips (will it survive a trip through the delicate cycle of the washer and air dry or should I just hand wash)?

Detergent choice

The choice of detergent will be important, whichever washing method you use. Most of today's detergents are very strong. Woolite, as Gerald suggested, is mild if you get the mild version, as they now make an "everyday" formula that is not as mild. Look for the word "delicates" or something similar on the bottle.
