My selection for Turning of the Week for May 23, 2022, is this unique turned and carved Redgum bowl by Mark Wardel. This 6-inch bowl was turned from a fence post that Mark had in his possession for quite some time. In designing and executing the turning Mark not only was able to retain the milled texture of the fence post but also was able to combine round and square shapes in the final turning. His unique carved handles provide a square shape which very nicely complements the bowl with its milled edge. It is because of this unique combination of textures and shapes and finished product quality that I choose Mark Wardle's 6-inch Redgum bowl as the Turning of the week.
