My choice for turning of the week is "Radiolarian VIII", by Michael Foster.
This piece caught my eye. The more I looked the more I liked it. Michael described being inspired by an electron microscope image of a radiolarian fossil dating back about 185 million years ago.
Nature is a great inspiration. Being unfamiliar with Radiolarians, Wikipedia told me they are a protozoan about .1-.2 mm in size. that’s about the thickness of a hair. Little guys, you could see with your eye as dots.
Michael's form brings those tiny fossilized remains to life on a scale that lets us appreciate the elegance of the mineral patterns radiolarians left behind. Thank you, Michael.
