I remember hearing somewhere that I should not turn off my vacuum pump when there is vacuum suction on a bowl - I should bleed the vacuum from the regulator instead and then turn off the pump. Is this the right thing to do, or can I just turn off the pump. Will this harm the pump in any way. Thanks in advance.

Vacuum Pump Primer

I'm lookinf for a good primer on vacuum chucking. Anyone have a reference to one that would help? Set ups, home made rigs, jigs, faceplates, pressures, hazards, etc. We're looking to do a workshop on it at The Bayou Woodturners and would like to include a formal reference it it's available.
