A buddy of mine got some big walnut. We processed a couple tonight and got four pieces each around 11” square by 18” long, no pith. Going to start some hollow forms and vases.
I don’t see any photos either—was just commenting on the size of the blanks. Would like to see them though!Hmm, is it just me? I don't see any pictures. Maybe my computer skills???? I do like walnut, but can't work with it any more. Makes me sneeze and itch.

I’m exhausted just thinking about processing that much. Luckily I’m not a production turner. Yesterday an arborist was taking down a large ash in my neighborhood. I got about five pieces, which made about 12 bowl blanks. My eyes are always bigger than my shop, as I need to consider what do I have room or time for.He has ten more logs to process. That will be around 40 more pieces like this.
You can always share with club members….Michel, you’re right. The arborist described the job to me as “a ball-buster.” It was hard for me to walk away from some huge blanks, but I realized it was just not a good time for me to be overwhelmed with new wood. Biggest I got was about 14” in diameter.

The big section, I would guess the first one off the stump, has that 'olive ash' heart wood color. TAKE ALL OF THAT YOU CAN GET! That particular color files off of the shelves if you are selling! If not, all of your relatives and friends will drool!
