My go to finish is first applying Dr Kirk's Scratch Free then buffing the surface, then finally spraying one or two coats of lacquer. I can get really good smooth, shiny results and sometimes the lacquer won't even take right if I don't apply the wax. I do have older work (2 years old) and don't see any degrade or flaking on the pieces.
I know it is not good to use wax and lacquer together without first stripping the wax but I have never had a problem with doing it this way.
How is this working and do any of you guys do it this way?
