First lathe back in the 70's was an electric drill mounted on the work bench, than a drill press. My first real lathe was on old JLine, than a cheepo Craftsman, now I turn on a Vickmark.

Which Vicmarc do you have, Bob? Is it well built, solid, have any peculiarities worth mentioning.

I've been thinking the Vicmarc 300 is the one I'd get if I want variable speed and 24" capacity.

Tell us about it.

My first lathe was a 15 year old shop smith. I turned on it for 3 plus years. This Christmas my wife bought me a 2 hp jet 1642 evs. What a dream compared to the old shop smith.
