Contest:
This is the announcement of the 8th contest - focusing on ornaments with embellished icicles. If you missed the last contests, do a search for "contest" in the forum search.
Rules for this contest:
  1. Deadline is January 8, 2007 midnight. (The contest was announced 12/4/2006, so this gives ~6 weeks including to complete the submission).
  2. Each participant will create an ornament with an embellished icicle...in line with the feature story on pg 20 by Bill Bowers in the Winter 2006 AAW Journal issue.
  3. Any and all turned "ornament" submissions will be considered but they should have an embellished icicle. What's embellished, you decide!
  4. The submitted piece must be created after 12/4/06 (corresponding to the AAW Journal Winter 2006 issue)
  5. One submission per person. You can submit multiple pics but only 2 pictures maximum will be submitted for judging.
  6. The ornament may only be submitted by the turner themselves.
  7. You cannot change your submission after you submit
  8. Size restrictions: must be able to be put on a tree branch without breaking the tree
  9. Contest is open to all, AAW members and non-members.

How to submit:
  1. Post your entry in the photo gallery and label it "AAW Forum contest entry" so people will recognize it.
  2. Also email Steve when you submit the entry, and he will track the entries -
email to steve@turningwood.com. He will respond with an acknowledgement, unless the spam filter rejects your email. If he doesn't send an acknowledgement, then send him a Private Message (PM) via the PM function in this forum. Also he will maintain a list of entries in the forum near the end of the contest.
Winner and Prize:

Winner selection:
Someone really cool will be judging the entries.

The prize is:
1) The winner will be announced in the forum, and on the AAW homepage.
2) The winner will also be announced in the AAW Journal.

The winning woodturner will be requested to write a short description about
the piece, their inspiration for it, and a short woodturner biography. This
write-up from the artist will be due within 1 week after the contest results
are announced. The write-up will be turned into a webpage. The webpage would be announced and linked on the homepage.

Please ask any questions if any of this is unclear or if there is a typo of some type. Also please feel free to enter the contest. Let your imagination run wild, this is supposed to be fun!!!

Might be that everyone is still turning Christmas stuff like mad....

I was just re-reading these instructions for the definition of "embellished".

I've got an ornament I might post, but am waiting to see if I can think of other ways to "embellish"....
