WTB: Crown Negative Rake Shear Scraper

I just use a regular ground scraper and turn it at an angle. I can see where that round shank would be nice.

Cheap and easy to make your own with a grinder, drill, and tap. Mild steel bar, 5/8 or 3/4, from the box store. I ground the insert mount parallel to the shaft. Tried it at an angle like that one, and the shaft needed to be too “square” to the work.

Tony, I would recommend making your own NRS from a standard scraper. Buy a thick one (1/2 inch) to minimize chatter. I used my metal grinder to do the initial grinding and then finished the grinding on my lathe tool grinding setup. The bottom angle is the same as I use for my roughing gouge -that way I always have the angle set up to do touch-up grinds on the NRS. The upper angle (shown in the image) is steeper to ensure the included angle between surfaces is less that 90 degrees. You will notice that I made the NRS two-sided. This lets me use it inside and outside my bowls/turnings in whatever holding direction I need. Hope this helps.
