From Aug 27 thru Sep 1 the Willamette Valley Woodturners demonstrated at the Oregon State Fair and we were one of the most popular in the building. We put in a total of 329 hours with at least 4 mini lathes going at a time turning a variety of different things the youngest was 9 years old and the oldest was a few years older than that ( like about 65 years older). This was the third year we have done this and by far the most successful with more positive contacts than the last 2 years. This year we even had people in wheelchairs watching and being interested in woodturning due to one of our members being in a scooter himself, he was a great inspiration to these people as they were looking for hobbies they could do. Our next meeting will be in October and I look for are membership to increase but more important that is more and more people are becomming interested in woodturning
