Birds eye Maple plate

This piece was turned as a thank you, to be given back to the homeowners who called us when they had a large Maple tree taken down on their property. The block for this piece came from one of the large upper branches of the tree. 14 1/2" x 3" finished with a mix of raw tung oil, boiled linseed oil and polyurethane. The outer profile of the plate has a very pleasing ogee shape. Though it's difficult to tell from the picture the rim features rolled beads, rather than just an insized grove.
