A basic open form in sassafras with a balanced grain pattern. This piece was turned from the same log as my "Sleigh Runner" natural-edge pieces.
Base: 1 3/8" dia
Height: 2 3/4"
Width at rim: 7 3/4"
Wall Thickness: 3/16" Typical
Finish: Oil & Wax
Nothing simple about it. Sometimes it takes more effort to make something clean and smooth than let-'em-warp bark up types. I've made and sold this bowl a few times, so my advice is unless you're carrying a half inch or more thickness at the base, keep it out of the wind!
One of my favorite styles, though I generally use a bit less lift at the base, using maybe an eighth inch recurve for reveal.
