Calyx Vase

Calyx Vase

My most recent inside/out turning, of Black Cherry. Cut from a solid chunk of wood, sliced into four segments on a bandsaw with a brand new blade using a ripfence, and glued back together as it was cut for the final turning.
The tips were wider than the outermost parts before carving to shape.
Partly finished with two coats of wipe-on polyurethane, I wanted to keep the gloss down for the picture.
6" high, and 4" maximum diameter.
Any comments are welcome, thanks for looking.
A beautiful piece. If I hadn't read your notes I would have assumed it was carved after turning. Very nice job.
