Mesquite and Resin Vase

This is a piece I finished last night. It was a twisted wormy piece of mesquite with blue and purple resin. It is about 10+ inches tall and about 7" at the widest point. The finish is a catalyzed varnish wet sanded, buffed and hand rubbed to a high gloss.

The other reason for pressure is the resin I use sets real fast and vacuum will not work.

The varnish I use is sprayed with a HVLP gun. The smoother it is applied the less likely you are to sand through the finish. So yes it really should be sprayed. This piece has 4 coats of the varnish.
