Pretty piece! I have always liked forms that mimic natural items. The wood fits this very well too! Good choice leaving the insert out as well.

The finish is Minwax Antique Oil Finish. I kept brushing on the finish for ten minutes, saturating the surface and keeping the piece "wet". I then wiped off the excess, and allowed the piece to dry overnight. I repeated this on three consecutive days. The first application used a lot of finish as it was absorbed into the wood. Each succeeding application used less finish. The piece was NOT buffed. Dale
