“Just one more bit of joy…even if your bowl is full.”

Finished a hybrid-sculpture (turned and carved) with overall dimensions of 17” tall x 8-1/2” wide. Turned Walnut hollow form, relief carved, acrylics. Carved Blue Jay out of tupelo wood, acrylic paint, glass eyes, pewter feet.
Absolutely incredible!
Yes, it is incredible, Christine. :)

Hopefully you don't mind a suggestion....When I first saw this piece, my mind told me it was much smaller than it actually is. One thing that removes this misconception, is to include something in the photo that gives the viewer some indication of the size. I use a scrabble piece for my photos, but anything will do.....a coin, keys.....anything will do.

Your Blue Jay is amazing!!!! ..... and the carving on the hollow form looks great, Christine. I'm on the fence about the hollow form as part of the overall composition. Perhaps a plate/platter/shallow bowl/disc (since this is a turning forum :) ) with your pebble-like carving and leaves would look a little more balanced/appropriate. Don't mind me ... just thinking out loud. Your work is great!

Thank you, Odie! I always hope for good suggestions. You are right, I will include something like keys next time. Don’t suppose I can trade out this image?

Thank you, Tom! I really wanted to add a walnut hollow form to this…was planning for a large, “overstuffed with acorns-look”. Unfortunately I’ve fractured my hand and cannot turn. Hence, I’ve used what I had rough-turned prior to my accident. Added the feet for height… It looks okay but your feedback/ideas are also very much appreciated.

Sorry to hear about your hand. That can definitely put a dent in your productivity. Best wishes for a speedy and complete recovery.
