1514 Flame Maple

Flame, Fiddleback, Tiger, Curly Maple......you choose! Finished 10/22/2018, original block was 16% MC, and took a total of 7 months to stabilize after roughing. Sanded to 600+ 0000 steel wool, Beall 3-step buff, Danish Oil Natural. 12 5/8" x 1 15/16", 1lb 12.2 oz. There is a crack on the rim that was repaired with epoxy mixed with sanding dust......turned out very well.

Beautiful platter. I would call it curly Maple, I call flame the curl you see in a crotch, literally looks like a painted flame. Unless this was from a huge crotch... I'm colorblind, so I can't see i if your work has a tint picked up from the back ground, I'm guessing it's purple or blue. I used a blue sheet stolen from my wife's stash, and was told by Jamie Donaldson, a retired professional photographer about that... Nice touch with the little beads...
