2126 Red River Gum burl.

2126 Red River Gum burl.

Original block was 14% MC, and after roughing, it took a total of 5 months to stabilize. 8" x 2 1/4", 15.3 oz, sanded to 1500gt, Danish oil natural, Beall 3-step buffed. Completed 5/13/23 and sold on 5/26/23 for $245. This example was very hard and dense, but finishes nicely. I turned another RRGburl recently that was very difficult to sand because the voids kept tearing up my discs and sandpaper, but this one sanded out without any significant problems.

Bugs cause the voids or something else?
I'm tempted to say they're bark inclusions, but that doesn't quite fit.....but, I don't think it's bugs. Maybe someone else knows for sure.....
Nice contrast with the smooth and the voids Odie! How about that rich color!!
Thanks Russ.....yes, that color is great! :)
