2153 Australian Red Mallee Burl.

2153 Australian Red Mallee Burl.

Initial MC was 20%, and after roughing and anchorseal, it took a total of 10 months to stabilize. 6 3/4" x 3". Sanded to 600gt, Danish oil natural, Beall 3-step buff. Plenty of drying separations plus some worm activity in this one, but many people consider these naturally occurring things to be aesthetic and desirable. I agree with that, and to my thinking, this adds character and eye appeal to the finished piece. Completed 1/25/2023 and sold on 2/2/2023 for $215.

I absolutely agree with your "adds character" comment. There can be beauty in imperfection. Lovely wood. Lovely bowl.
