AAW 2011 October Contest

Mahogany, 7 1/2" high x 2 1/2" diameter. Clear Satin Polyurethane.

And a study in grain directions. There are 9 vertical sticks (3/8" square), including the longest; and 7 layers of 4 sticks each (also 3/8" square), the layers alternating N-S and E-W. Except for 2 tiny remnants, the outermost sticks of the top and bottom layer were obliterated in turning, so there are a total of 35 pieces.
very nice, sort like the man in the iron mask kind of thing
