AAW January 2010 Contest

This is an alternate view of the Bubinga bowl, which more clearly reveals the profile of the bowl and the detail of the texturing.

This bowl is made from quartersawn Bubinga. It measures 3.75 high X 11.25 in diameter. The base occupies 50% of the diameter, and the wall thickness is 9/16, so it is a very solid and stable bowl. The finish is Salad Bowl Finish with a topcoat of Town Talk Orange Wax. It could be used as a salad bowl, but I feel the wood is too pretty for that. It would probably work best as a fruit bowl to be placed at the center of a dining table. It features a textured band on the outside of the bowl, and a small bead on the inside top of the rim.
very nice
