Ahoy!

I previously posted in the forum a bowl turned into a simple sail boat Al Hockenberry suggested I try making another boat bringing the detail up a level or two. I hadn't thought about making another "boat", but the suggestion kind of turned into a challenge to me. So I turned a bowl leaving a thick rim, then split it in half and glued together the halves. I band sawed the hull shape and began adding detail. Everything was hand made and mostly turned on the lathe. It came out better than I thought and have not seen anything done like this before. I also believe I brought the detail up a level or two.

Edit: It is about 12' long and 11" to the tallest point. Wood is red maple, cherry and a little walnut. finish is Lacquer.
Thank you Al and Bill for the comments. Although it doesn't appear it was mostly made on the lathe. I guess I can call it a boat from a bowl.
