Sanded to 800 and finished with Watco Danish Oil since it was mostly heartwood. Buffed with Tripoli and waxed with Conservaotor’s microcrystalline wax. About 10” x 4 1/2” high.
Wow, that’s beautiful. I wish we had nice trees like that out here.
I’m taking a two day course with Cindy Drozda. Yesterday was the hollow form. In two weeks , part two is stand and finial. Then I’m going to remake a chalice.

Thanks Glenn. Just a humble Silver or Soft Maple as commonly known. This one was not that big and a daughter tree of a hundred year old one at our cottage (where I am sitting now gazing at a magnificent Lake Erie). It was mostly heart wood which makes it more interesting and the Danish Oil popped the grain as I hoped it would. I would swap any day for your Big Leaf Maple!
