Big Leaf Maple Burl Bowl Platter - side

So I decided to turn a scraggly piece of Big Leaf Maple Burl, and this is the result. It revealed so much figure and character- Birdseye, Spalting, Quilting, Rays galore, and a few bark inclusions. I think I'll donate this one to the LPB Art and Travel Auction for a PBS fundraiser. Photos show top, side, and bottom views. 10" x 2", finished with 4 coats of Waterlox matte luster. Can't wait to see what the other scraggly pieces reveal!
