Black Cherry Hollow Form

Black Cherry Hollow Form

This is black cherry, probably crotch wood. There's some beautiful flame and curl in the wood. It's about 5" x 5". Finished with Formby's Tung Oil finish, then buffed and hand-rubbed with Renaissance Wax.
STUNNING!
The colors and figure took my breath away.
The shape well supports them... (or words to that effect)
I'm not sure, I may have liked the other picture better, but this thing probably looks good from any angle. I DO like that splash of sap wood, really grabs the eye!
Great finish too.
Your photography in both instances is excellent, it almost looks like a painting.

Many thanks for the kind words (twice), George. I had a tough time deciding which of several pictures to post. Every few degrees of rotation shows off something different in the figure. I consider myself very lucky to have found this piece of wood.

AAW Home Page Photo Of the Day

Vaughn, I edited out the first sentence in your description (quoted below) just for the duration of the POD. Hope you don't mind!

(Tried to switch the image, and ended up deleting my original description and ByGeorge's comment. Doh!) Let's try again...

One heck of a nice piece, would love to see that one in the flesh!

Cheers!
