Blue Tower

Blue Tower

The vessel was turned using the sacrificial wood method, so the piece ends up being somewhat oval. After I turned it, I cut openings in the 2 sections and made the overlay using 3 layers of veneer that were taped to the vessel so the resulting panel had the same shape as the vessel side. Clear as mud?

It was inspired by a photo I saw of a new Marriott hotel in Dubai- you never know where ideas will come from.

C&C always welcome
A bit different from your sweeping curves, but just may be technically more difficult. A very handsome piece. (Cannot quite get how you did the panels.)

A departure from your other work Allan, but I still picked it as yours :)
Just love the design, colouring & make in this piece. Fabulous
Congratulations on the WOW cover
Pete
