Big Leaf Maple Burl. The wing is 16" x 13" the bowl is 5.5" across and with the feet Prox 3" tall. The wings are at various heights as I was able to capture some movement in the piece. The rim was carved with a dental drill. The entire piece is around 3/32" thick.
Another exceptional piece. Many aspects of this to admire and enjoy. The textured rim (I'm assuming), the wings, and the shape of the feet. Very nice work.
Thanks for the comments and rating. The wing is 16" x 13" the bowl is 5.5" across and with the feet Prox 3" tall. The wings are at various heights as I was able to capture some movement in the piece. Yes, the rim was carved with a dental drill. The entire piece is around 3/32" thick. Really had a lot of fun making this one.

They started moving as I turned them, moved more when I sanded them, and kept on moving afterwards. I love turning maple burl thin. It always holds a plesant surprise.
