Caltalpa Hollow Form

6"x4". Lacquer finish, buffed.
gary,
the form is very pleasing, but the best part is orientation of the grain with the form. very striking!!!

i've never turned this wood - what's it like?

Thanks -e-. Catalpa is very much like ash to turn. It is a ring porous wood, and sometimes the pores prevent me from using my vacuume chuck. The air is just pulled through the wood. It takes a nice finish, and darkens with age. It can look dark from one direction and when turned it can look light. Hope this answers your question. Gary
