This is a continuation of the series of suspended vessels I've been working on. The lower finial is suspended just above the base recepticle and doesn't touch it. Sort of a double suspension. The idea is that the vessel is held above the base by an invisible force, even though it's supported by the pins at the side.
Too metaphysical probably but that's what kind of went through my mind at the time.
Woods are redwood burl, rosewood, and maple, 11"Wx10 1/2"Hx5 1/2"D. The vessel walls approach 1/16" thick. Finish is spray lacquer.
