Carved and painted walnut picture frame

My wife is an amazing photographer, and I've been experimenting with making frames on my lathe that will complement her work. The photographs are printed on metallic paper. This frame is an 11-inch diameter piece of walnut that I carved with a Merlin 2 mini-grinder, and then embellished with iridescent acrylic paints to capture some of the colors in the photograph.

Nice work by both of you, Mark. The carved frame is very nice, but IMO is overwhelming the photo ... which is supposed to be the main attraction. This one would work better as a plate or platter. Your other two frames are more complementary to the photos but I think would work better if they were narrower. Just my 2¢ !!! ;)

Thanks for the feedback, all! Tom, I had a hard time photographing the carved piece and it's not a good representation of the actual colors, everything is much subtler than it looks like in the photo. But point well taken, and I will experiment with narrower frames and larger prints.
