Copper Goblet

Loquat Wood - 7.5" tall x 3.5" dia.

This is a piece I made for my local club's (Goldcoast Woodturners) upcoming Goblet Challenge. Goblet was turned and then embellished with carvings on the Digital Ornamental Lathe I recently built..

The wood suffered from blue stain and I decided to give it the "artifact treatement". Used a copper metal rub over a black background to age it.

very nice, good luck in your challenge

Thanks Charlie - The good thing about our club challenges is that everybody has a chance to win. If you participate you get a ticket for a prize drawing. So that luck you threw my way should come in handy.

Would be interesting on hearing more about your digital ornamental lathe that you built. Work looks great.

H Bernie - I had an old Jet 1442 lathe that I added some cnc capabilities to. Rather than using gearing to achieve ornamental designs, as in a traditional ornamental lathe, I use a computer to to control a trim router moving along the lathe axis of rotation. The rotation of the work piece is also controlled by the computer allowing me to wrap designs.

The design software I use is Aspire by Vectric. The control software is Mach3.
