Terrific, Dennis! I have a lot of fond memories play croquet when I was younger. You've inspired me to turn a set sometime down the line. What kind of wood did you use for the balls?

One of my first wood working projects about 40 years ago was a croquet set for my parents. They still use it occasionally when friends/ family visit. Great project Dennis, yours looks a little better than mine!!

Michael, the balls and mallet heads are hard maple. The handles were turned from unknown replacement tool handles from a hardware store and were threaded to match the threaded sockets in the mallets.

This is wonderful, Dennis. Well done. It got me thinking, though--you could turn one ball perfectly round and the others a little off and be the only one who knows which it is..or turn one out of hard maple and the others out of cherry and be the king of sending the other balls off! Lots of opportunity to get an edge, here.
