Double Natural Oak Burl Pod This is another in my Double Natural series of turnings. It is from an oak branch burl. As with all of my Double Natural turnings, I turned this with the natural bottom intact. In fact, the stem on the bottom is the branch that the burl formed around. So this piece captures and displays the very essence of a burl. The voids in the blank then formed the natural top edge (with an added touch of crafting on one side). I then used black acrylic to accentuate the rim, void, and stem. It stands 8" and is 4 1/2" wide. The stone base is natural Ozark creek stone from the creek next to my house. I did a wash of acrylic to darken the stone slightly. The piece is finished with Danish Oil and buffed.
